Code Of Conduct
To help make the festival an enjoyable experience for everyone, WE ASK THAT YOU REMIND YOUR STUDENTS OF THE FOLLOWING EXPECTATIONS:
- Please respect all staff and student helpers who are a part of the Ontario Band Association. This festival is entirely staffed by volunteers - please be kind.
- Please respect the Conference Centre. This is a beautiful facility and we are very pleased to be able to use it for our festival. There may be other groups using part of the Centre. Please ask your students to remain in our area of the building.
- Please respect your adjudicators. These individuals will be working long hours to provide you with the best possible feedback. Show enthusiasm and musical excellence - remember you are still being "marked" during your clinic.
- Please respect your fellow musicians and bands. Please show courtesy when meeting other students or teachers - encourage others to play well.
- THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PLAYING OF ANY INSTRUMENTS OUTSIDE OF THE WARM-UP ROOM, PERFORMANCE HALL OR CLINIC ROOMS.
- Please be a respectful audience. We ask that there be ABSOLUTELY NO TALKING DURING A PERFORMANCE. Please remind your students not to applaud between movements in works which have several movements.
- A blank STUDENT ADJUDICATION FORM is provided on our website. We encourage band directors to make at least two or three copies for each student. We hope that student musicians will be active listeners at this year's festival. This form is very similar to the one which your festival adjudicators will receive.
- Any groups which cannot abide by this code of conduct may be disqualified from the festival resulting in a non-invitation to the Canadian National Musicfest in May.
